How it works
Three steps, no paperwork to start.
Request
Pick a service and tell us what you need in a few sentences. Use your institutional email so we can find your Hub profile and projects.
Triage & scope
The research office confirms receipt, assigns a statistician, coordinator or fellow, and agrees on scope, deliverables and timing with you.
Deliver & follow up
Work is tracked in the Research Hub alongside your project. You receive the deliverable, a short summary, and a point of contact for revisions.
Databases & registries
The department maintains three prospective clinical registries. They are IRB-governed data resources: every extract is tied to an approved protocol or an umbrella registry IRB, and de-identified datasets are prepared by the research office rather than pulled directly by investigators.
Brain Tumor Registry
Primary and metastatic CNS tumors: surgery, radiation and systemic therapy, imaging and volumetrics, RANO assessments, tumor board decisions, trial enrollment and biobank specimens.

Trauma / TBI Registry
Traumatic brain injury and cranial trauma including subdural and epidural hematoma and skull fracture, with ICP readings, imaging, complications and standardized outcome assessments.

Functional Neurosurgery Registry
Epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation, pain and spasticity procedures, with device programming, seizure logs, medications, neurophysiology and validated outcome instruments.

Approved Hub members can browse registry dashboards directly in the Research Hub. External collaborators need a data-use agreement in addition to IRB approval. Program context is on the Research page.
Frequently asked
Who can request services?
Any Saint Luke's or UMKC-affiliated faculty member, resident, fellow, medical student, advanced practice provider, nurse or research staff member working on a neuroscience project. Use your institutional email address; requests from other domains are not accepted.
Is there a cost?
Core services are provided by the department at no charge for departmental projects. Large or externally funded studies may need a statistician or coordinator budgeted in the grant — we will tell you early if that applies.
How fast will I hear back?
You will get an acknowledgement within two business days. Turnaround for the work itself depends on the service and is listed on each card; mark a request as urgent only for abstract, grant or IRB deadlines inside two weeks.
Do I need IRB approval before asking for registry data?
Not to start the conversation. We will help you decide whether your question fits an existing umbrella registry protocol or needs its own submission. Data are released only after approval is in place.
